I am planning to teach several workshops and courses in 2026. Many of them have limited enrollment, so don’t leave it too late to register!
Instructors: Julia Lee and Joan McKenzie
Dates: Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 5, 2026
Venue: Haliburton School of Art and Design
Registration fee: $494.01 Registration details online.
Build on your existing spinning skills by exploring a range of fibres beyond wool, including alpaca, mohair, angora, silk, and dog fur. You will learn about the unique characteristics of each fibre and how to blend and spin them effectively. Instruction will focus on adjusting your spinning techniques and experimenting with creative multi-plying methods to produce distinctive, high-quality yarns. This class is intended for spinners who are comfortable using a spinning wheel or e-spinner and can create a two-ply yarn. You should bring your own working equipment, or rental options may be available through the instructor.
